About Indian Creek Village
Indian Creek Village occupies a man-made island of roughly half a square mile in northeastern Miami-Dade County, bordered by Biscayne Bay, Indian Creek, and Indian Creek Lake. The village was developed in 1928 by a group of Midwestern businessmen and formally incorporated in 1939. Today it holds 41 residential home sites and the Indian Creek Country Club, which takes up most of the island's land.
The only way onto the island is a single road — a 1.6-mile private two-lane route — that crosses a bridge from Surfside guarded by its own police checkpoint. That single point of entry, combined with a resident count that has stayed in the dozens for nearly a century, makes Indian Creek one of the most controlled addresses in South Florida.
The country club's golf course, originally built in 1930, was renovated by Dick Wilson and rebuilt entirely in 2022; Golf Digest ranked it among Florida's top 25 courses in 2025. Surfside, Bal Harbour, and Miami Beach are all a short drive away once off the island.
Why buyers choose Indian Creek Village
One road, one checkpoint
A single 1.6-mile private road and a guarded bridge from Surfside are the only way on or off the island.
Extremely limited supply
Just 41 home sites exist on the island, and the number has changed little since incorporation in 1939.
A rebuilt private club
The Indian Creek Country Club's golf course was completely rebuilt in 2022 and ranks among Florida's top 25.
